Gateway Six – Trust Your Intuition

It’s easy to ignore our intuition, especially in Western cultures where we place so much value on the intellect. We are taught to focus on our grades, our IQ, and our accomplishments. We learn early how to succeed in the outer world, yet very little about how to listen to the wisdom within.

And yet, there is so much more to this life and to how we experience it. Intuition is not random; it is the soul’s quiet guidance system. What might our lives look like if we devoted as much time to the wisdom of our soul as we do to the things we have learned from the outside world?

Our philosophy teaches that Spirit expresses through us as wisdom, love, creativity, and insight. The challenge is not whether intuition exists — it is whether we are willing to listen, to trust, and to act from that place of inner knowing.

In the Science of Mind textbook, Ernest Holmes reminds us, “Intuition is God in man, revealing to him the Realities of Being; and just as instinct guides the animal, so would intuition guide man, if he would allow it to do so.” (p. 342.2)

Our intuition grows stronger when we quiet our fears, our doubts, and the constant noise around us long enough to hear that still, small voice within.

Do you remember a time in your life when you absolutely knew you should not do something, and you did it anyway? I do. Hindsight can be a powerful teacher, and sometimes I wonder if my path to this moment would have been straighter had I simply listened.

I found this philosophy because I listened to my intuition. I heard a clear inner voice telling me I needed to change my life or I would either destroy myself or harm someone else through the pain I was carrying. I am not sure I even want to imagine what my life would look like had I ignored that guidance. I only know that by listening, my life took an amazing turn for the better.

Each of us has a fire burning within our hearts. It is our purpose, our calling, our deepest spiritual desire. When we ignore that inner fire, we begin to feel disconnected and numb, like standing beside a fire that no longer gives warmth. Too often we abandon our truth trying to live up to someone else’s expectations. When this happens, we lose alignment with who we truly are. Over time, this disconnection can lead to depression, addiction, anxiety, or simply moving through life half-awake.

Intuition is one of Spirit’s love languages. The more we trust ourselves, the more clearly we hear Divine guidance. Life becomes more peaceful when we stop forcing and start listening.

You do not need all the answers before taking the next faithful step. Your soul already knows the direction. Our work is learning to trust it.

Intuition is not something outside of us that we must earn. It is the Divine already speaking within us, gently guiding us toward the fullest expression of who we were created to be.
